Kids' Zone Downtown

The operation had not completed a fire drill in July 2025. This was corrected when the fire drill was completed during inspection and the children and staff were able to exit in under 3 minutes.

Observed an infant sleeping in a crib on top of a boppy pillow. This was corrected when the boppy pillow was reemoved from the crib.

Observed 8 infants sitting in the highchair table and were not strapped into the chair. This was corrected when the infants were removed from the seats.

Observed one classroom that had two classrooms mixed together due to low numbers. The two caregivers did not know how many children they had in care. They stated that there was 17 children and one caregiver had 9 and the other had 8 children but there was only 16 children in care and each classroom had 8 children total.

The operation's current health inspection is out of date and was last completed January 2023.

There was sufficient evidence found during the investigation to show that children were sent to the bathroom without direct supervision.

Observed one infant room with 5 infants 4 to 8 months old with one caregiver. This was corrected when a caregiver came into the classroom. I observed a second classroom with 6 infants ages 12months to 16 months old with one caregiver. This was corrected when another caregiver came into the classroom.

A fire inspection has not been completed within the last year.

A caregiver placed an infant face down on a boppy pillow for tummy time and walked away from the infant. While the caregiver was away from the infant, the infant scooted down in the pillow and was unable to get out of the pillow themself.

Observed multiple foam and plastic cups that were scattered over the large playground area. I spoke to the oepration about ensuring the playground is kept clean.

There was a 7 year old child in the same classroom as infants who are 13-17 months old. This was corrected when the 7 year old was taken out of the room.
