Giggle and Grow

there has not been a fire drill since March.

An activity plan was not available for 1/3 of the classes. Of the two activity plans posted, neither were within this week's date. One was dated May 26, the other was dated June 2nd. Also, they should state the group name they were written for.

There was not an allergy action plan on file for a child with an allergy to trout. She did have the medication, but no plan signed by the doctor.

Their firdt aid kit did not have scissors or tweezers.

The emergency drill log was not available for me to see the Co2 log, emergency drill log or the fire drills.

One caregiver took a CPR class that was online only, and did not have hands-on practice.

Two of the four children's files observed did not have an emergency contact or had only the parent listed as emergency contact.

The 2-3 year old class had the correct number of children signed in for the day. The 4-5's had only three children signend in and 9 in attendance. The director signed everyone in while I was there.

During nap several children were running in circles, even colliding and hurting one another, kicking and screaming on their mats, and wandering over from the other room.

Two carpets in the threes room and one carpet in the twos room have multiple stains from 1/2" to 9" all over the carpets.

Only 7 out of 9 children were signed in in the fours class and only 9 of 14 children were signed in in the two's and threes. When shown the Director signed in all the missing children.

Loose fill was added but the use zones around the slides and climber are only 3-4" deep, and down to only 1" deep in the use zone of the slide near the open portion of the barriers.

There is a screw exposed in the toddler room on the gate partition. The fence surrounding the playground has multiple exposed nails. There is mesh on the playground fence that can scratch children. The mesh has been removed and the screws fixed. The fence surrounding the playground still has nails exposed in multiple boards coming up around the base.

Loose fill was added and barriers moved to contain the fill, but the level is still only 3-4 inches deep.

There were no tests of the fire alarms recorded on the operation's Emergency Practices list or elsewhere.

There were Lysol wipes left on a shelf within the reach of children. The bathroom cabinet held Lysol wipes and was not locked.

A teacher with conditions on her Background Check was left in charge of the operation and was left alone with a class of children.

Two caregivers were observed giving children snack without washing their hands.

There were no Carbon Monoxide tests recorded on the Emergency Practices form or elsewhere.

One teacher has expired First Aid certification.

There was no staff list posted. A list was printed and posted while we were at the operation.

They have no statement about inclusive services to children with special care needs in their policies.

There is only 2-3 inches of loose fill in the large playground's use zones.

There are no marks on the play equipment indicating the necessary levels of loose fill.
